Social media is all about connecting with your audience
Social media is all about helping people achieve a goal. You need to make sure that your social media presence is providing a solution for your audience’s problems by introducing them to your product or service.
Marketing 101 suggests that you need a well-defined brand name, however social media takes this one step further. Unless you are incredibly famous your own name is irrelevant, what you need is a practical name that identifies what you are selling and is stacked with ‘keywords’
Keywords are words that people frequently use when searching on the web. Google’s Keywords Tool can help you find the ‘hot words’ for your market, and Google Insights can add another layer of information by showing how these ‘hot words’ are trending. Try putting ‘Social Media’ into Insights and look at the exponential search growth since 2004.
Once people have landed on your site, provide them with ‘Social Proof’ that others like what you have to offer. Testimonials, especially in video format, are priceless. If your product or service really is that good, your clients will be happy to act as ambassadors.
A lead generation page, or mini website, is also crucial. This page needs to demonstrate how easy it is to get your product and pay for it. Remember, your site will look more professional if you have a third-party certification, such as ‘HackerSafe’, and use ‘PayPal’.
By carefully choosing your brand name, providing social proof, and presenting a well-crafted lead generation page people will connect with you without realising that they are being ‘sold too’. The key point of today’s blog being that – social media is not about selling, it’s all about connecting with your audience.
