Connecting with your social network

Posted on 04. Oct, 2011 by in social network

When you start interacting on a social network you are basically using technology, combined with social interaction, to create a social presence. Before you begin, you need to think carefully, plan your social strategy, so your social presence looks professional. Remember what goes on the internet stays there forever!

As we’ve already discussed, building a social network is all about connecting with people. Make sure that your followers know where to find you, if they land on Facebook, have a link to all your other accounts and vice versa. Also, remember not everyone will look at your profile from their computer, so if it is right for your business have a phone number and email address clearly visible.

If you are selling a product or service, your customers want to know what they can expect from you, and have the opportunity to get to know you better. People want to know that you deliver and see social proof that you run a legitimate business. Having subscribers, thumbs up, or Like’s, as well as great testimonials (especially video footage) is invaluable. For those who are camera shy, it’s time to get over it! Find a professional photographer and get a sharp looking shot for your profile.

I know it sounds scary, but it’s time to get strategic and start planning what you would like to share with your social network! Next week we will look at how to deal with negative feedback and manage the content on your accounts.
